Intellectual Property Strategy

The course contains three main modules, including: 1) historical underpinnings of intellectual property; 2) use of intellectual property, including an analysis of the practical realities of the role intellectual property plays in all stages of a company’s life from the start-up phase all to dissolution or reorganization; and 3) monetization of intellectual property, including methods to derive value from intellectual property portfolios (with an emphasis on patent portfolios). This course accommodates students who want to pursue a career in intellectual property law, as well as those students who simply want an introduction to intellectual property law and practices.
